According to the songwriters Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard, Sheeran’s song “Photograph”, which has sold over 3.5 milion units is copied from their 2009 work “Amazing”. The song was recorded and released as a single by the winner of X Factor 2010, Mat Cardle.

The songwriters are represented by attorney Richard Busch, whose last big copyright lawsuit was on behalf of the Marvin Gaye family who sued Robin Thicke and Pharrel Williams over the hit “Blurred Lines” back in 2013.

The opposing side is claiming a cool $20 million compensation which may become more in terms of damages or royalty.
