The famous couple Michael Phelps – Nicole Johnson, dated for over eight years and first married in an intimate five-person ceremony in their backyard in Tempe, Arizona, on June 13. It was followed up with a wedding with their closest friends and family at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on October 29th.
The wedding day of the Olympic Champion Phelps and 2010 Miss California USA, Nicole Johnson, was just as romantic and dreamy as everyone could have imagined! The beach totally created the right calming atmosphere needed and it looked like a fairytale.
As it is seen in the video of the wedding published, the seaside wedding celebration was definitely well thought out and planned. The couple exchanged vows under a lush arched copper structure in an intimate, romantic ceremony.
Nicole wore a figure-hugging Julie Vino wedding dress when she said “I do” to her Olympian guy, who let’s not forget, just this summer competed in his third and final Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he won his record-breaking 23rd gold medal.
Afterwards, the new Mr. and Mrs. Phelps celebrated with their closest friends and family in a “Pinterest-worthy” beach reception. From the way all the colors were mixed; white, gray, natural wood and gold, lavender, you could tell that the couple was focused on creating a ceremony to remember. All the details created a warm ambience that the guests definitely enjoyed.
Nicole gave birth to their first child, son Boomer, earlier this year who was also the ring bearer in their parents’ wedding. They had put the ring in one of those little net bags that you have for jewelry. It was one that matched his Burberry outfit. Boomer was carried down the aisle by the gold-medal swimmer and the couple’s good friend, Allison Schmitt.
A very special element of the wedding, that Nicole told Brides Magazine, reflected the couple’s personality was when the guests walked into the cocktail hour, they had mariachi music going and the guests were greeted by a mini taco and a shot of tequila or a mini bottle of Corona.
And of course, the couple’s first dance was also a very special moment. Nicole & Michael danced along to “Die a Happy Man”, a song the three of them love very much and always listen to in the car.
The party continued and we can say it was definitely a perfect wedding!
