Chrissy Teigen has decided to open up about her postpartum depression in a
new essay she wrote for Glamour magazine.
The 31 year old model revealed in the essay that after giving birth to her
daughter Luna, she felt very different. Chrissy said she had a hard time getting
out of bed to go work on the set of Lip Sync Battle. She added that her back and
shoulders hurt and she couldn’t even eat. “I would go two days without a bite of
food, and you know how big of a deal food is for me”, Teigen told.
I'll just say it: I have post partum depression. So much love to @glamourmag for letting me share something that was eating me up inside for months and months. One of the most amazing things about social media is the ability to interact candidly with friends and fans and it felt so weird knowing what I was going through but not really feeling like it was the right place to speak on it. I've always felt genuinely close to all of you and I'm insanely relieved you now know something that has been such a huge part of me for so long. My full essay is on the @glamourmag bio. ❤
The model revealed that not only she was having a hard time with her physical
health, but she also was becoming less social. Teigen said that she was very
“short” with people and barely left the house. She wouldn’t even open her
curtains to see how the weather outside was.
That being said, Chrissy decided to go see a doctor and was then diagnosed with
postpartum depression. She reveals she had to start taking antidepressants and
also to see a therapist. “Let’s be honest though — I probably needed therapy
way before Luna!” she jokes in the essay.
"I was so tired of being in pain. Of taking things out on people. Of not enjoying life." @chrissyteigen shares her experience with postpartum depression for the first time in our April issue. In April her daughter with singer John Legend will be one years old, but Teigen
admits that she’s still not fully recovered, adding that there are still weeks when
she doesn’t leave the house and often doesn’t have energy to do stuff. She
admits that at least her physical health is improving as she’s not suffering from
back and wrist pain like before.
Talking about John, Teigen reveals that the ‘All Of Me’ singer has been very
supportive. She says he wants her to be “happy, silly, and energetic” again, but
he’s not making her feel bad when she is not in that place
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are considered as one of Hollywood’s best
couple, so of course we couldn’t expect less from him.
