Over the past few years, singer Demi Lovato has been very open about her past struggles with substance abuse and an eating disorder. In the latest issue of American Airlines’ inflight magazine American Way, the “Confident” singer once again talked candidly about her troubled teenage years.
In the magazine the star stated, “I lived fast and I was going to die young. I didn’t think I would make it to 21.” She went on to confess that she self-medicated heavily with cocaine, OxyCotin and alcohol. Fortunately in 2010 Demi checked into rehab and has since been on the road to recovery.
March of this year marked her fourth year of sobriety – which is an incredible feat considering the pressures she continues to deal with due to being in the spotlight.
