We already know that Emma Watson and Miles Teller were the first actors who
were offered the main roles on La La Land, but since they turned it down Emma
Stone and Ryan Gosling got the parts.
According to rumors, Watson decided to turn the role down because of ‘Beauty
and the Beast. In a new interview with Sirius XM this Friday, she decided to open
up about why she wasn’t cast in the Oscar nominated musical.
Emma Watson told that it’s frustrating when names get attached to projects very
early in order to build anticipation or excitement over it, while nothing is really
actually agreed. That’s what happened with ‘La La Land’ apparently. The 26 year
old actress revealed that she had already agreed on her role as Belle in ‘Beauty
and the Beast’ when the offer was made.
“[Beauty and the Beast] wasn’t a movie I could just sort of step into,” the
actress continued. “I knew I had horse training, I knew I had dancing, I knew I
had three months of singing ahead of me and I knew I had to be in London to
really do that. This wasn’t a movie I could just kind of parachute into. I knew I
had to do the work, and I had to be where I had to be. So, you know, scheduling
conflict-wise, it just didn’t work out”, Watson told.
‘La La Land’ turned out to be a huge success and Emma Stone even won the
Oscars for Best Actress thanks to her role in the musical. However Watson says
that even though she couldn’t star on ‘La La Land’, she is still happy that musicals
“are so celebrated at the moment”. She also told that she found ‘La La Land’
‘wonderful’ and ‘lovely’.
Meanwhile ‘Beauty and the Beast’ officially hits the theatres this upcoming Friday,
March 17 so make sure to see Emma Watson in the role of Belle.
