Emma Watson was announced as the cover star of Vanity Fair’s March issue and looked beautiful in the magazine cover. However, some people seem to disagree and have criticized the actress for wearing a see through top in the cover shoot.
Not only that, but the “Beauty and the Beast” star was called a hypocrite regarding her feminist views after the magazine spread was revealed. The picture the people were referring to is the one below, in which Watson is seen posting in a sheer top that only covers so much.
Maturing from Hermione to Belle in @beautyandthebeast is a true coming-of-age story for @EmmaWatson: "I couldn't care less if I won an Oscar or not if the movie didn’t say something that I felt was important for people to hear." That being said, the 26 year old actress has decided to speak up on the matter and defend herself and her views.
“It just always reveals to me how many misconceptions and what a misunderstanding there is about what feminism is,” Watson told Reuters this Sunday. The then continued that feminism is about giving women choice, not a stick used to beat other women with. She told that feminism is about liberation
and equality; I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it. It’s very confusing”, she added.
The photoshoot was done by the famous photographer Tim Walker and Watson told that it’s very artistic. “We’d been doing so many crazy things on that shoot, but it felt incredibly artistic and I’ve been so creatively involved and engaged with Tim and I’m so thrilled about how interesting and beautiful the
photographs were”, she continued.
Several media outlets published articles questioning Emma’s feminist views. The Sun even printed a story titled “Beauty and the Breasts”, while other sites called her a hypocrite for going topless for the magazine.
Meanwhile, Watson’s new movie “Beauty and the Beast” has just hit theatres and is being released worldwide, so don’t forget to go check it out.
