In a new interview with The Independent, movie director John Carney recounts his not-so-favourable experience working with award-winning actress Keira Knightley. Back in 2013, Keira starred in John’s musical comedy-drama Begin Again. While the movie faired pretty well amongst film critics and audience members, John admits that he wasn’t pleased with Keira’s performance. John explained, “I think that’s what you need as an actor; you need to not be afraid to find out who you really are when the camera’s rolling. Keira’s thing is to hide who you are and I don’t think you can be an actor and do that.”
The director also stated, “I learned that I’ll never make a film with supermodels again.” Fortunately for Keira, while John may not want to work with her again, there are plenty of filmmakers out there who would be more than happy to have her on their movie sets.
