This Friday night, singer Louis Tomlinson has been arrested for battery at the
Los Angeles International Airport.
According to booking information from Los Angeles County Sheriff Department,
the singer was handcuffed around 11:45 p.m. and was sent to jail.
The news was first announced by TMZ, who reported that the former One
Direction member was in the baggage claim area with his girlfriend, Eleanor
Calder, when he pulled a paparazzo to the ground by his legs. The photographer
fell down and struck his head and back on the floor. According to eyewitnesses,
the reason Tomlinson reacted this way was because the paparazzo wouldn’t
leave him alone.
The ‘Just Hold On’ singer has been released on bail which was set at $20,000.
He also had to agree in writing that he would appear in court on March 29.
Martin Singer, Louis’ lawyer, released a statement for the press in which she
clarified everything that happened at the airport.
“The paparazzi provoked and caused the altercation that occurred with Louis. It’s
not the first time that a paparazzi has created an altercation with a celebrity.
While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals
were attacking his girlfriend during this incident and he came to her defense,”
the lawyer told.
He confirmed that the couple was at the baggage claim area and that’s when the
paparazzi came and surrounded them.
”There was some altercation, pushing shoving that happened. One of the
paparazzi fell down and that paparazzi signed a private person arrest for battery
misdemeanor”, the lawyer continued.
While all this was going down, Louis’ girlfriend, Eleanor apparently got in a fight
with a female witness, who was trying to record the whole thing. However she
did not get arrested.
