Pepsi’s new commercial for their “Live For Now” campaign featuring model
Kendall Jenner has been the talk of the week and Saturday Night Live decided to
redo the ad in their own version!
In the spoof video that aired this Saturday, the writer/director of the ad is
played by the actor Beck Bennett, who explains the concept of the ad to
someone on the phone. He says it is a “homage to resistance”, explaining that a
huge protest resembling the Black Lives Matter one is happening on set. The
actor explains people are walking towards the police officers and just when you
think things will go bad, Kendall Jenner appears, walks up to a police officer and
offers him a Pepsi can (just like it happened in the real video). That’s when
everybody gets together and Bennett describes it as the “best ad ever”.
That’s when the person who’s talking on the phone with the director in the skit
disapproves the ad and he starts to worry. He then calls other family members
and friends explaining the concept of the commercial, but everyone disagrees
with it. That’s when he understands they can’t do it.

Meanwhile, Pepsi has already pulled the commercial and apologized for it after
receiving backlash from the public. They also apologized to Kendall Jenner for
putting her in the position, because she was the one targeted mostly by the
backlash considering she was the face of the ad.
