Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry got along like friends, while Sheeran crashed
on Perry’s interview with BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday, February 22.
The 32 year old pop singer called him out for knocking her latest single,
“Chained to the Rhythm” from the No. 1 spot on the iTunes chart, when she
noticed Sheeran standing in the hallway outside the studio. Perry said to
him: “Thanks, babes, for keeping me off the No. 1 spot, thanks,” as she
jokingly showed him her middle finger.
“Oh, you’re so approachable, oh, you’re everybody’s best friend. Oh,
great.” – She continued.
Ed Sheeran then made his way into the studio to sound off a conversation
with the pop star. They hugged each other before sitting down to talk
about their first meeting long time ago.
The “Shape of You” singer recalled the first time he met Katy and told the
story to the listeners.
Apparently the two singers met in Toronto for the first time while Ed was
there for a show and he was sweating really bad, so when he saw Katy he
was a bit embarrassed. “I walked up to her and she was like, ‘Hi. I would
hug you, but ew’”, Sheeran recalled.
Perry quipped back: “Now that you’re Ed Sheeran, it’s like, ‘Put your ball
sack on me!’ It’s like, ‘All of it!’”
The pair also bonded over their previous losses at the Grammys. Sheeran
said that he was nominated for 13 and that also Katy Perry was
nominated for 13. Perry responded that they were in the next Grammy
We wonder what would Taylor Swift think of Perry and Sheeran hanging
around together knowing the fact that the duo does not have quite a
“good relationship”. The drama escalated when Swift called out an
unnamed mean girl in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone.
