Mariah Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance was highly anticipated, but unfortunately things didn’t go the right way for the singer.
The 46 year old singer was one of the special guests set to perform at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, but her performance was considered as one of the worst of not only the night, but probably her career.
Not only did Mariah lip-sync, but the whole performance looked improvised and unrehearsed.
However, the singer didn’t care much as she posted an explanation on social media saying “Shit Happens” and then wishing her fans a Happy New Year.
Shit happens 😩 Have a happy and healthy new year everybody!🎉 Here's to making more headlines in 2017 😂 pic.twitter.com/0Td8se57jr

However, her team told in interviews that they think Carey’s performance was sabotaged in order to gain more attention for the show. According to them, the audio equipment had many problems that weren’t solved in time.
