This Tuesday Rihanna accepted her Humanitarian Of The Year award which was
given to her by Harvard University.
The “Love on the Brain” singer looked gorgeous in a gray dress as she went on
stage to accept the award and give her speech.
“So, I made it to Harvard”, Rihanna told starting her speech off as she flipped
her hair in a sassy way and the audience started laughing.
Rihanna then continued that she ever thought she would be able to say that in
her life but it felt good.
During her speech, Rihanna recalled that her first inspiration to help others was
from TV commercials which told viewers how to help starving children in Africa.
Till now she has done a lot of charity work, from starting her own foundation to
helping build schools in African countries and creating a scholarship program.
Obviously all these good deeds have not gone unnoticed since Harvard
University has decided to give this award to Rihanna. She has now become the
first female artist to receive this award. However the singe was pretty humble
while being honored with the award. This is what she told:
“All you need to do is help one person, expecting nothing in return. To me, that
is a humanitarian. People make it seem way too hard, man. The truth is that you
don’t have to be rich to be a humanitarian, to help somebody. You don’t have to
be famous. You don’t have to be college-educated.”
